Kingston Chamber Singers, The Percussion Ensemble of London, Janet Shell (mezzo-soprano), Daryl Griffith and Simon Ferris (duo pianists), Benjamin Costello (conductor/piano)
A varied feast of British music for choir, two pianos and a battery of percussion kicks off this year’s series: Constant Lambert’s effervescent The Rio Grande, Leonard Salzedo’s exciting Concerto for Percussion, Richard Rodney Bennett’s jazz-infused Four Piece Suite, atmospheric songs by Madeleine Dring, and the world premiere of a new arrangement for two pianos and percussion of George Dyson’s dramatic choral fantasia celebrating London, In Honour of the City. 2014 is the 50th anniversary year of Dyson’s death and this concert is supported by The Dyson Trust.
